Shyft Group to provide 24/7 services to Blue Arc EV trucks

The vehicles will be available through dealerships staffed by technicians trained by Shyft's engineering team.

The Shyft Group signed an agreement with Amerit Fleet Solutions to provide 24/7 maintenance and support services for Blue Arc EV trucks across the U.S.

““As we transition to EV technology, we’re focused on ensuring a seamless experience for our last-mile customers and drivers. Our comprehensive service model includes onsite dealer service, access to our Blue Arc EV Tech Support team, a proven parts ordering system, and now, Amerit’s 24/7 EV Fleet Maintenance program to minimize downtime and keep fleets on the road,” said John Dunn, president and chief executive officer of The Shyft Group.

The company says that Blue Arc EVs will soon be available through a select network of dealerships, each staffed by technicians trained and certified by Shyft’s Blue Arc engineering team. Complementing this dealer network, Shyft said its in-house tech support team—comprising more than 30 certified technicians and engineers—specializes in vehicle development, validation and testing to maintain high service standards at all touchpoints.

The Blue Arc platform is designed for demanding commercial vehicle duty cycles. Tier 1 suppliers include Akebono, Bosch, Dana, Hendrickson and Modine.

The Shyft Group also recently secured an initial order of 150 Blue Arc EV Trucks from FedEx for its U.S. pickup and delivery fleet. During testing on last-mile routes in Memphis, Shyft said the Blue Arc truck operated eight to 10 hour routes under challenging conditions, with temperatures ranging from 95 to 105°F.

What’s new with the International Trucks eMV electric medium-duty truck

The more truck technology changes and grows, so too does tried-and-true spec’ing and application knowledge.

Electric truck technology evolves quickly, and it's to the point where the industry as a whole is done talking about it in broad terms that simplify an electric powertrain compared to its diesel brethren. There are still plenty of truck spec'ing decisions to make that will be driven by application and duty cycle, even in an all-electric world. Case in point, the International Trucks eMV that was on display at ACT Expo. The last time we saw the truck was at the Work Truck Show in 2023 when we caught up with Bruce Vasbinder, director of medium-duty segment marketing, International Trucks, to walk around the battery EV.

What does the electrified future mean for transmissions?

Battery electric trucks certainly don’t have the 18-speed transmissions we’re used to. Forget the switch from manual to automated manual—this is a much bigger change.
